About coaching

Coaching in general is about ‘unlocking potential’ and enabling people to achieve their goals and aspirations, whether related to life in general or more specific to work and career.

Coaching in whatever context is a series of conversations, based on questions that should:

  • Challenge and inspire
  • Energise and uplift
  • Motivate people to act and make changes

With career and work coaching in particular, these ‘conversations’ can be mixed with self assessment surveys, personality questionnaires and creative visualisation exercises as alternative ways of getting people to think more broadly, deeply and openly about their present work and their future career.

The purpose of Career and Work Coaching is to generate the momentum and energy needed for each person to think and act outside their comfort zone. So whether those aspirations hinge on:

  • Identifying and leveraging strengths
  • Being successful at interview
  • Working more effectively with colleagues
  • Improving communication
  • Developing confidence and resilience
  • Finding the right work life balance

The real power behind any coaching lies in the questions asked and what each person decides to do in response to the answers they find.

Coaching is really most effective and empowering when the client and their coach can:

  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship based on mutual respect, trust and confidence.
  • Fully commit to the process of coaching and the work that it will entail.
  • Build strong foundations, on which to maintain the change.
